Two People in Minnesota

Lomenett is made by NuLenke, a two-person hardware company in Minnesota, where Matt builds the hardware and Sid writes the firmware and the website. There are no investors, no data team, and no one else.

Is that legit? That's a fair question, so here's who we are and why we're doing this.

We were the kids who loved this stuff

We grew up genuinely excited about technology. Computers were the thing that was on your side, because they did what you told them, they belonged to you, and every new gadget felt like progress you could hold.

Then look at how far it's gone downhill. Your TV reports what you watch, your car reports where you drive, and your "free" apps exist to study you. Somewhere along the way, the default question in tech stopped being about what companies could build for people and became about what they could extract from them, and the gadgets went from serving their owners to studying them.

We didn't stop loving technology, but we did stop loving what companies do with it. NuLenke is our attempt to build the kind of company we wished existed, meaning one that makes a good object, sells it to you once, and is then done wanting things from you.

So we built a password typer

Lomenett is an aluminum USB stick that stores your passwords and types them for you, like a keyboard, with no app, no account, no cloud, and no radios. We call it a password typer because that's exactly what it is. It's deliberately one of the simplest product categories possible, a thing that does its job and cannot betray you, because we gave it no way to.

The whole security story, including what it doesn't protect against, is on our attack surface page. We put the limits in writing because "never lie" is one of our Nevers, and those aren't decoration, because they're rules we wrote for ourselves before we had anything to sell.

No VC, no freemium, no asterisk

We didn't raise venture money, and that's a structural promise rather than a boast. A funded startup answers to its investors, and when growth stalls, the pressure to "monetize the user base" always points the same direction, which is at your data.

It's also why we're premium rather than freemium, since freemium is where companies start to sell data. A free product still has to pay its engineers somehow, and if you didn't pay, someone else did, for something. We'd rather be straightforward and charge $90, once. You pay us, so we work for you, and that math stays the same forever.

Too many tech companies are loyal to themselves and think only about what benefits them. We will do well by benefiting our customer, and we gave that idea a name we hold ourselves to: Simple Loyalty to You.

What "two people" actually means for you

It means the early runs are assembled by hand, by us, and we're not embarrassed by that. It means that when you email NuLenke, one of the two people who designed the thing answers you, because there is no one else. It also means no growth team ever gets hired to "re-engage" you, no pivot to a subscription happens, and no quiet update starts collecting telemetry. The people making those promises are the only people at the company, and we just made them in public.

It also means we're small, and we won't pretend otherwise. We can't out-spend anyone. What we can do is make one thing carefully, tell the truth about it, and stand behind it with our own names.

Why bother

Because this stuff should not be this hard, and it should not cost your privacy. Your passwords guard your money, your email, your photos, and your whole life, and the standard answer is to store them with a company, on the internet, forever, for a monthly fee. We think there should be at least one dumb, loyal, offline object you just own.

Sid says it in four words, and it's the closest thing NuLenke has to a mission statement:

"Privacy. It should be a right."
