The Nevers
NuLenke, the two-person company behind Lomenett, never takes your data without your explicit permission, never sells it, and never runs ads that follow you around the web. This page is our privacy policy in plain language, and the list of things we committed to never doing before we ever built a product.
Most privacy policies are written by lawyers in language nobody reads, and ours is written by us in language you can actually read. The rule we wrote down on day one still applies: if we can't be honest about a specific practice, we probably shouldn't be doing it. Everything below is us being honest about our practices.
The Nevers
These are the rules we wrote for ourselves before NuLenke had a product, a website, or a customer, reproduced word for word:
- Never take people's data without their explicit permission. If it's not a datapoint we need, we don't ask for it. This is why Lomenett has no app, no account, and no cloud, since we can't take what the product never touches.
- Never use IP fingerprinting or ads that follow people around the web. It's creepy, and it goes against the reason we started this, which is technology for good.
- Never write Buzzfeed-style brainrot blogs. Every page on this site exists to answer one real question, and if a page doesn't help you, we don't publish it.
- Never lie. That includes the comfortable lies. When we compare Lomenett to another product, we tell you where the other product wins, and when there's a limit to what Lomenett protects, we say it first, on our attack surface page.
- Never do anything without the user's permission. It is your device and your data, so it is always your call.
- Never build a product for the sole intention of making money. We charge a fair price for a useful thing, and that's the whole business model. Here's why Lomenett costs $90, once.
The honest part: what other companies see when you're here
We don't collect your data, but we're two people, so we run on other companies' infrastructure, and some of those companies do collect data. You deserve to know exactly where that line is.
Shopify runs our store. When you buy a Lomenett, Shopify processes the order and the payment, and we never see your card number because Shopify handles that. Shopify does collect data on the people who use it, and we don't control what they collect. They have their own privacy policy, and if you're the careful type it's worth reading. The line is that Shopify collects data on their users while we don't.
Brevo sends our email. If you sign up for our launch list, your email address is stored with Brevo, the service that sends the emails. That address is the one datapoint we asked for, you gave it explicitly, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link that actually works, so if you unsubscribe, we stop. We never buy lists, and we never hand your address to anyone else.
Google Analytics counts our visitors. We use it to learn which pages actually help people and which ones don't. That means Google's script runs when you visit this site, and Google collects data about your visit under Google's own policy. What we see on our end is aggregate numbers, meaning how many people read a page rather than who you are. If you block analytics with a browser extension, nothing on this site breaks, and we won't try to work around it.
We buy ads on Google and Meta. Those platforms built their ad businesses on staggering amounts of data collected from their own users, and we use them to reach people, because that's where people are. Here's the line we hold: we don't feed them your data, and we never run retargeting, meaning the ads that follow you around the web after you visit a site. If you saw our ad, it's because you were on their platform, not because we tracked you to it.
What we hold ourselves
Almost nothing, and that's the design. Lomenett itself sends us nothing, because with no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth, no app phoning home, and no account to log into, it has no way to. We couldn't collect your passwords or your usage habits if we wanted to, and that's exactly how we want it, because two people in Minnesota can't lose data they never had. About the legal versions
This page doesn't replace the formal policy pages in the store footer, since Shopify and the law require those, and they're accurate. This page exists because a policy you can't read isn't much of a promise, and we wanted to make one you can.
